Weekend Recap | Low Key in Grand Rapids

After two busy weekends away (and two more coming up) we really enjoyed our semi-low key weekend in Grand Rapids.

Friday started out very early, 4:45am to be exact, when I had to drop Thomas off at the gym for his 12 hour shift and then couldn't fall back asleep. So I spent a lot of time cleaning the house to make it presentable for our landlord to show and ran a few errands. Once Thomas got off work we made dinner, started Peaky Blinders season 3, and then took a walk downtown.
I had a serious craving for Superman ice cream and Kilwins pulled through! It was delicious :)

On Saturday morning we headed to Holland for the wedding of one Thomas' college buddies. It was a unique experience; attending a morning wedding and lunchtime reception, but still a lot of fun! Once the reception was over we stopped in Grand Haven to kill some time before the "afterparty" started. Unfortunately, it started to downpour so we stayed in the car and took a nap lol Now our "wedding season" is now over!
I took Duke for a quick walk before leaving him for 10+ hours... in my wedding attire. Haha
The church was absolutely beautiful!
The last two at table 12!
The groom's parents, who hosted the afterparty, lived out in the country and had beautiful horses that were eating the grass right in front of our car when we went to leave!

Sunday morning was slow going, but then we grabbed lunch at a Mediterranean restaurant and saw Me Before You. I loved the book and thought that the movie did it justice! Thomas couldn't get past Emilia Clarke playing the role of a "not-so-confident" female when she's such a strong character on Game of Thrones, but I thought she was a perfect Lou. Next up is The Girl on the Train!

Did anyone else see Me Before You? If so, what were your thoughts?

  1. I want to see Me Before You so bad!!!! Hopefully we'll go see it soon. I haven't read the book, yet, but I plan on it! That ice cream looks delicious and now has me craving some...at 9:45 in the morning LOL. Love your dress and earrings, so cute!! We are going to a wedding this fall and it's in the morning and the reception will be a brunch style reception. This will be the first wedding like this for us and we are both anxious to see how it all plays out! Glad y'all had a great weekend! :)

Also, car naps are the best! ;)

    1. Mid-day weddings are definitely different, the one we attended didn't have any dancing, and hopefully you two know other people attending so that you can catch up!

I loved Me Before You and the sequel! Bring your tissues though :)
