Camping Trip | Days 1 & 2

Last week we headed up north for a week of camping, hiking, and breweries. It was our first time to the Upper Peninsula and we had an awesome time! I'm going to break the trip up into four separate posts and today I'm recapping the first two days.

Thomas and I headed north Tuesday afternoon. Our first destination was our friend's family cabin on Torch Lake. As soon as we arrived we dropped our bags off and headed to Traverse City. That evening we completed the TC Ale Trail, which is 8 breweries, in just over four hours! It was crazy and I'll write a separate recap for that. Once we got back to Torch Lake we hung out for a few hours before calling it a night.

The next morning we woke up early and headed to Charlevoix to check out Castle Farms! I had heard about it through the MI Awesome List and I'm glad we checked it out. All four of us were impressed and had a great time. Fun fact: Caitlin and Tyler from Teen Mom got married here so you might recognize it from the episode!

Once we were done with our self guided tour it was time to meet up with the rest of the camping crew at Short's Brewing Company in Bellaire. After eating lunch and a stop at Meijer for groceries we were on the road to the UP and our campground. 

It was our first time crossing the Mackinac Bridge and let me tell you, the see through down to the lake grates are terrifying! Two hours later we arrived at our campsite, set up, and plopped down in front of the fire for the evening. That evening it poured and believe it or not, it was awesome to fall asleep to!
