Weekend Recap | Metro Detroit Edition

Another weekend spent in Metro Detroit is in the books. As always, it was jammed packed and we got to see all of our favorite East side people :)

We spent Friday night catching up with friends and drinking. We had an awesome time playing the "Ronald Reagan" game and cheers-ing to Gordie Howe and Muhammad Ali. We even stayed the night and Duke did great! I never know how he's going to react being in a new-ish environment for a longer period of time, but he was fine.

On Saturday we headed over to Thomas' cousin's house for his annual Flag Day party. They have an awesome pool and it was definitely utilized seeing as it was over 90 degrees! We also admired the bar Matt made, how sweet is that?!

Midweek Ramblings + Purchases

Ramblings
Moving: As of now we don't know where we'll be living come July 19th and I can't express how stressful it is. We're currently in limbo while I'm applying for clinical fellowship positions, because we have to go wherever the job is and as of now it doesn't look like Grand Rapids will be that location. Thankfully, we have a friend who said we can live with her for a couple weeks once our current lease is up and while Thomas finishes his semester. It is so draining applying to multiple positions a day and having nothing come of it... yet.
One Tree Hill: I've restarted the series on Netflix, while I'm unemployed / have ample free time, and I'm loving even more than I did the first time through. I'm currently on season 7, right after Lucas and Peyton left, so  I have 3 more seasons to go. It takes me back to high school, watching the episodes with my best friends, and I can't believe how much of the storyline I forgot. It'll always be that one special show for me!
Visitors: Tomorrow my grandparents and their best friends arrive in town for two full days of all things Grand Rapids and I can't wait to play tourist guide :) The weather should be beautiful and we have a lot of fun things planned!

Purchases
Boyfriend Shorts: After purchasing (and returning) 4 pairs, I have finally found a pair! These ones from Old Navy are perfect; they actually fit me well and were only $13!
CND Vinylux Nail Polish: I heard about this nail polish from Youtuber MakeupbyTiffanyD and love it! For me, it doesn't last a full 7 days but it lasts longer than "normal" nail polish does (around 4 or 5 days). I purchased 4 colors- Cream Puff, Cake Pop, Hot Pop Pink, and Powder My Nose.

I used to write Thursday Thoughts posts, but recently saw this "style" on Annaliese's blog Southern Belle in Training and thought I'd try it out! Definitely check out her blog if you haven't :)

Summer / Grand Rapids Bucket List

Now that summer has officially arrived in my book I figured it'd be a good time to make our summer bucket list! There's nothing I love more than checking items off of a list so this really shouldn't be a surprise ;) Something else worth mentioning about this list is that it might not just be a "summer bucket list" it might be our Grand Rapids bucket list as there is a very high possibility that we will be moving come August. But that's a story for a different day.. so onto our list!

  • Visit John Ball Zoo
  • Paddle board at Millennium Park
  • Attend at least one Movie in the Park showing
  • Go to a Whitecaps game
  • Watch the 4th of July fireworks in Downtown
  • Visit the Meijer Gardens
  • Attend at least one comedy show at Dr. Grin's
  • Walk/ride bikes around Reed's Lake and stop for ice cream at Jersey Junction
  • Have professional pictures taken Downtown
  • See the Pink Floyd light show at the Planetarium
  • Have a picnic at Lookout Park
  • Visit the Gerald R Ford Museum
  • Enjoy a beach day in Grand Haven
  • Eat at all of our favorite GR spots (I have a list of 15 restaurants!)
  • Spend one Saturday at the Farmers Market
  • Wander around The Downtown Market
  • Host one final party at "Casa de Veto"
  • Play a round of mini-golf
  • Check out a movie at The Wealthy Theatre
  • Land an SLP job- bonus points if it's in West Michigan!

Phew! It's quite an extensive list so we'll see if we have enough time (and money) to check all of these off  :) What are some fun things that you'd like to do the summer?

Weekend Recap | Low Key in Grand Rapids

After two busy weekends away (and two more coming up) we really enjoyed our semi-low key weekend in Grand Rapids.

Friday started out very early, 4:45am to be exact, when I had to drop Thomas off at the gym for his 12 hour shift and then couldn't fall back asleep. So I spent a lot of time cleaning the house to make it presentable for our landlord to show and ran a few errands. Once Thomas got off work we made dinner, started Peaky Blinders season 3, and then took a walk downtown.
I had a serious craving for Superman ice cream and Kilwins pulled through! It was delicious :)

What's New with You Link Up | May Edition

I can't believe that it's already June or that we're half-way through the year!! These past six weeks have been non-stop and it doesn't look like it'll be slowing down anytime soon. I can't say that I mind it though ;)

Memorial Day Weekend | Frankenmuth, Wedding, Detroit

Our holiday weekend was quite a doozy. From the time we left Grand Rapids Friday morning until the time we arrived back home Monday evening we were go go go.

We drove the two hours East to drop Duke off at my in-laws and then headed two hours North to Frankenmuth for all of the wedding festivities. We stayed at the Bavarian Inn Lodge which is one of the most iconic locations in Frankenmuth and a place I stayed at frequently growing up. It's a must if you're going to stay overnight and want the full Frankenmuth experience ;) Not to mention it was within walking distance of the festivities!

Weekending | Wedding #1

This past weekend (yes...this recap is a little late) started our "wedding month." We have three weddings to attend three Saturdays in a row!

First up was Thomas' cousins' reception in Metro Detroit. They were married in Cancun in January, but unfortunately we weren't able to attend due to school. We were SO happy that they hosted a reception at home too! Since Thomas was in the bridal party we were able to enjoy the party bus with the rest of the bridal party.
