Summer / Grand Rapids Bucket List

Now that summer has officially arrived in my book I figured it'd be a good time to make our summer bucket list! There's nothing I love more than checking items off of a list so this really shouldn't be a surprise ;) Something else worth mentioning about this list is that it might not just be a "summer bucket list" it might be our Grand Rapids bucket list as there is a very high possibility that we will be moving come August. But that's a story for a different day.. so onto our list!

  • Visit John Ball Zoo
  • Paddle board at Millennium Park
  • Attend at least one Movie in the Park showing
  • Go to a Whitecaps game
  • Watch the 4th of July fireworks in Downtown
  • Visit the Meijer Gardens
  • Attend at least one comedy show at Dr. Grin's
  • Walk/ride bikes around Reed's Lake and stop for ice cream at Jersey Junction
  • Have professional pictures taken Downtown
  • See the Pink Floyd light show at the Planetarium
  • Have a picnic at Lookout Park
  • Visit the Gerald R Ford Museum
  • Enjoy a beach day in Grand Haven
  • Eat at all of our favorite GR spots (I have a list of 15 restaurants!)
  • Spend one Saturday at the Farmers Market
  • Wander around The Downtown Market
  • Host one final party at "Casa de Veto"
  • Play a round of mini-golf
  • Check out a movie at The Wealthy Theatre
  • Land an SLP job- bonus points if it's in West Michigan!

Phew! It's quite an extensive list so we'll see if we have enough time (and money) to check all of these off  :) What are some fun things that you'd like to do the summer?

October Goals

How is it already October?! This year has seriously flown by in the blink of an eye! I swear the older you get the faster time goes by. Before we know it it'll be 2015. Today I'm posting a few things I want to accomplish this month.

1. Work as much as possible- I am no longer unemployed! I'm working at Macy's for the holiday season. I figured that if I get into grad school the holiday schedule works out perfectly, because it ends in January. And I can't lie, I'm really excited about the employee discount ;) I start training on Monday and my "home" departments are HANDBAGS, fun jewelry, and intimates.

2. Finish one book- I haven't been reading as much as I used to and I've been "reading" the same book for two months now. It's hard to find the time now that fall shows are back and I'm blogging again, but I need to finish it!

3.  Visit an orchard- West Michigan has a ton of apple orchards and the one on the top of my list is Robbinette's. Our friends have raved about it and I figured we need to enjoy the Fall festivities before the snow comes!

4. Stay on top of blogging- I still have to finish my pages (about, bucket list, ect) and I'd like to be consistent with my posts. I'd also like to start an organization series soon!

What goals do you have for this month?

Goals for 2014

Just like everyone else I'm not a fan of New Year "Resolutions" because I can never stick to them. However, if you know anything about me you know that I am a listoholic. I live by lists. So this year I've made of list of goals that I'd like to accomplish throughout 2014...

TAKE MORE PICTURES
This goal relates to "smaller" goals I'd like to accomplish as well- completing P52 {taking one picture a week}, starting Project Life {which is a form of scraping}, and learning how to use my dSLR.

TRY NEW THINGS
Unfortunately, I'm one of those people who doesn't really like change/newness {is that even a word?}. I want to branch out, I want to learn, and most importantly I want to grow. I already have a few things in mind for this- trying new foods, taking new classes, ect.

PUT MY PHONE AWAY
I'm semi-addicted to my iPhone and I admit it. I'm always checking Twitter/Instagram/BlogLovin and it drives my poor husband crazy. I need to learn when to "turn it off" and to just be in the moment.

BECOME ACTIVE AGAIN
This is probably on everyone's list in some form, but I think it's a good thing. I need to drink water {I can't tell you the last time I had a full glass}, find a yoga class to attend weekly, and start training for the runs we're signing up for!

FIGURE OUT MY NEXT MOVE
Whether it's grad school or finding my first "big kid" job I need to figure out what comes next. It's out of my hands now and I need to just believe that what's supposed to happen will.

Here's to hoping that 2014 is going to be a great year!
